You are so right, James, about what it will take. And exactly that is what worries me.

I feel that on one side, the right are in a back room right now rubbing their hands together and saying things like:
Soon, soon we will have women back in their places, serving us, deferring to us, raising our babies and doing all the bow-to-your- man duties God put them on this earth to provide.

I can also hear that group cheering that in a few years the women trying to afford the additional children (forced upon them by the state) will have to work for peanuts just to get any money to survive and then those children will also provide more cheap labor. The dreams of bigger profits expanding in the right’s brain. Because nothing matters to them except more money

Similar but different things will be said by the right about people of color, those not Christian, those not heterosexual and/or those with genders other than he/her, people from countries other than the US, older people, people in lower income brackets than the ultra rich…the list goes on.

Then there is another side where people are upset and concerned but not willing to go out of their way to do what needs to be done to stop the country regressing back to the Middle Ages.

True, there is another group ready to act( thankfully) but they need the support and actions from the middle group. Therefore, my concern.
