Wow. This is one of the best pieces yet that I have read on Medium. You are 1000% correct. Thank you for this.
I feel that our world has said the equivalent of “ yeah sure, there are all kinds of unique tasting and delectable foods out there, but if they want to douse everything in ketchup…well then, put a gallon jug of it on the table, give ’em what they want”
Yet as you write, doing the hard work is reality. Yes, inspiration from others can help. But the job of fixing one’s self needs doing by the owner of each body. Telling people that there is a “free lunch” of course is what they want to hear. But it is a lie. Plain and simple. A lie.
Imagine how self actualized the human race would be if we all practiced the honesty you have shown in this essay Felicia C. Sullivan . We would all grab and swallow the Buckley’s mixture rather than the cherry flavoured syrup because we KNOW what works to fix that annoying cough.
Omg. Thank you again, Felicia. You also hit something else in me. Something that is now put in perspective about a mentor of mine. Yes. Please know I really appreciate this.
Happy weekend and July 4th.
