This is a great article. I absolutely agree. I have always insisted that the solution is to treat every human being as an equal person. There does not need to be a winner/loser, a head of the household/second lessor fiddle, a bread winner monarch/slave washerperson. Etc. Etc.

Equality. Care. Concern and Acceptance of all people. No “correct” way to live as long as no “harm” is done. Meaning: it doesn’t have to be “ my way or the highway”. Good people caring about others, willing to share with others ( health care only one sharing example). Open minds. Intelligence.

I write this thinking how simple is the solution and how so many evils in the wotrld could be rectified if this were practiced. And wait a tick, at the very essence…is not equality, sharing and caring about and for others really what religion is about?? Just sayin’.

So my question is, after this rant of mine, where do we begin? On grass roots levels, since I do believe that’s a necessity.

And what do we do about the fact that the patriarchy has reigned supreme for so long, that understandably “they” would fight any solution that removes that power position? And note, regarding my previous question, let me be clear of my position: gender discrimination and injustices and worse, oh my, so much worse, do exist. The heart breaking, devastating, career limiting, life threatening stories are everywhere. Almost every woman experiences it on some level. And many good men cannot see it clearly because “ ya just gotta wear the shoes, man”.

Yet none of this; the patriarchy, the inexcusable treatment that women (and other groups) suffer, justifies clinging to the “ we are right and you are wrong” solution. We need to circle back to the fact that this cannot be fixed by for/against, victor/victim, truth/fabrication( thinking vaccination here). We simply must fix this mess. Now. As equal, caring, sharing PEOPLE. Somehow we move past gender. Past skin colour, language, geography, religious preference and more. For humanity’s sake.

Now, next step?
