That IS the thing, huh. To keep a hold on the creative lifeline.

I seem to be struggling with locating the balance of doing “my share of the good” so even in a tiny way I can be part of the solution AND to keep grooving my creativity. It is a tough one, because beyond making financial donations, what does the “regular everyday person” do?

And then, of course, we are talking Ukraine, covid, climate change, all the “isms”, hate and false info, good grief, the list goes on.

I finally, this week, wrote on Medium about this struggle as a way to try and weed through it. It IS a process, so I know ultimately I will figure it out. We all will.

I want to counter the statements like “it’s bigger than you and you cannot control it” with concrete small ideas of proactive things that “everyday people can do”. One commenter to my Medium piece wrote about the power of being “together” on this. She is right. Yet again, specifically, what does that mean.

I thought about starting a pub or substack or blog etc where people “write up” their ideas for teensy or big things we can do. Obviously fostering “togetherness”. But I don’t know. That would, I think, eat up all my time and then not give my creativity(especially via writing) any outlet.

Ahhhh. Decisions. Decisions.

So. Onward to Hinged. I didn’t know that site. Thanks for the thought!

Let me know when you publish there? Would love to read it. Did you sign up as a patron or premium hinge member?

I did a quick scan of their site( and Medium pub) and I need to go back and spend some time. I didn’t get, on my first glance, how NOT being a “paying member” of Hinged had anything to do with one’s MPP earnings. I understand if one is an MPP member then the revenue from a Medium story goes to the writer, no matter the pub.

Elizabeth, I’d love to hear any thoughts you have on any of this. Really nice having a chance to chat…well, eChat! 😃
