One theory you didn’t mention though is those cramped little troll hovels they dwell in under the bridge. Who wouldn’t be in bad humour in that case.

Remember, they have to swing up out of the hut on to the bridge, collect the toll while speaking troll dialect and THEN swing back over the side of the bridge, back into their hut AND remember the ever changing password in order to deposit the collected bridge toll funds in an ATM.

Oh my. That is a tough act to even imagine much less perform…😄
