Hey P. Thanks for your read and your feedback.

You are totally right about Medium being a wonderful platform. I think it is maybe THE BEST on the web.The people I have met here. Oh wow! The frienships formed and forming. The reading, the writing. I cannot say enough about all I love about Medium.

How is it that a platform feels "cozy"? This one does!

Then we get to start something together, you, me and Amy. From Lemon. How good is that!

My main concern in this hamster wheel article is about writers who write as their main day job. Or part of a group of day jobs, assembling income from the parts into the whole ( the whole bank account!) Like many I believe that a job, a profession, can be three things at once: fun, produce art, and make money.

Yet I believe if what is written in The Verge is correct, Medium cannot just ramp up, in a significant fashion, the money they pay out to writers. Which is why I suggest we come up with some self funding ideas. And sure Medium can and should do that without our input, but then a little proaction for those inclined cannot hurt...

So my thought is...how the heck does anyone(Medium or ouside the corp) come up with an idea that appeals to everyone? Well, the answer is: nope, you cannot. Your response to the affiliate suggestion is a great example. I totally get why some would want to do an affiliate thing and others would not. Totally fair.

Therefore, if there was a menu of mehods to enchance compensation(and some self funding) the writer could choose which ones appeal. The writer could choose none, if that was preferable, or all.

Sorry about the length of this reply, my friend. You make such great points that enable me to expand on my original piece. Then again, I am such a Libra, huh!!!

Thanks for everything, P. You are an amazing colleague AND friend. xxo
