OK. You asked! 🙄
I actually believe there is a sweet spot for everyone. Finding it is the issue. And walking from it when it no longer makes you sing.
Of course economics will always play a role, varying in size according to the indvidual's needs. In many cases I have found people have over-estimated those economics to an extent that they have stayed too long in a job and they are miserable.
No question compromise is usually involved in order to find a solution.
I can speak about this for three big reasons.
1. I spent a good chunk of time in a solutions finding profession.
2. I walked away from it when industry misogyny crushed my ambition. I gave up a lot...a ton...for self worth and oiece of mind
3. I have my own consulting biz now where I help people find that sweet spot. Work that they love. Often it is work they never considered before. It is usually in the form of a side gig/part time biz/full time biz. The common thread is ownership. The person owns the enterprise, not some external employer. Can it be a marriage involving writing? Yes/ maybe/no/of course...because it depends on the indivudual situation.
Gee Tammy, this was a mouthful, but like I said...you asked.
Off I go to read more of your stuff. I am SO far behind this month, reading and writing.
