Oh my. Girl! This is #2 in a row of me reading Cynthia Marinakos . Two totally different articles. Equally wonderful.

Just remembering my last artisan croissant. Yup, it was over-the-moon delish. Proof was all over my pastry flecked T-shirt. Thought for a sec that my top grew polka dots…

Yet as pleasurable as that pastry was, I have a feeling that those made by your honey are …stratospheric ( there’s a nice big word for you…how about “fan-fu%#%*-tastic” ...a simple, familiar word more in keeping with your excellent tips in my first read of you)

“The story behind a croissant I would usually just devour mindlessly has highlighted how lazy and disrespectful I have been with my food. With my body. My mind. And my life.”

I love this above passage that you wrote. So true, in many ways. The passion, beauty, complexity, labor of love aspects of food absolutely apply to life in general.

There is so much to say here. One thing: check out the intro to Kim Thuy’s cookbook “Secrets from my Vietnamese Table”. Just lovely. So much to learn from those family relationships.

Two. Maybe…because from day one, eating food enabled life. It then followed that the passion that drove making, seeing, tasting and savouring one’s food was nature’s way of saying ( well, something like) “Go forward human, and treat everything else that you do with the same enthusiasm you just showed for your nuts and berries”

Yah? Maybe? Your croissant man will be a good one to weigh in on this matter.

So then I suggest, social media ( insta for one, maybe?) might be one reason why we are losing this (secret to happiness food related) truth. Food in general becoming another four letter no-no word because omg, it makes you F-A-T.

When the truth on this one is ( doncha you love all my truth proclamations)

“ Golly gee Virginia, ever heard the word “balance”? Eat and savour those heavenly croissants, girl. Just don’t eat fourteen of ‘em before sundown.

Looking good, feeling great, enjoying food, focusing on the moments, loving life…all are possible if you choose them.

And no worries, your selfies will look gorgeous.”

Have a lovely weekend, Cynthia. To you and your chef guy( yes, I do forget his name and yes, I am too lazy to go back and check!)

From your new fan,

“Vee” ( nick name that my friends call me. Coincidentally, the V. in my middle name does stand for Virginia. 😀)
