LOL. Totally agree and now I have an answer to my frequently occurring question:
“ Why do so many current singers sound identical? One of many examples: Obviously sounding like Bernadette Peters singing is what the markets want these days? Because so many new women vocalists seem to display that sound.”

Look, I think Bernadette Peters is an amazing, talented actress and I confess, as far as I know, I have not heard her sing. Yet her speaking voice is so distinctive (and wonderful, I say) so I hear, in a lot of music today, what I think that marvelous talking voice would sound like belting out a song.

Thing is, I don’t want truckloads of songs/artists to sound the same. I want everyone’s real deal, not what an algorithm thinks will extract more money from me.

It won’t, by the way.
