I think Spotify could work to drive traffic to you on Medium…or ( better still) to your free and paid newsletter on a platform like Substack. The key is to keep the free Spotify content only on a sample/ teaser level OR different, so you don’t fall into the trap you wisely pointed out in your essay.

Of course the above is my theory since I have yet to test it.🙄

I am returning to Medium on a much more regular and focused basis this year after almost two years of ( unfortunate) external distraction ( sadly, not writing related). I am only now sorting out my plan and areas of focus. Food writing a main one and my business advisory another. Although a little poetry, fiction and personal essay/ opinion has to sneak in here and there! Nope, I do not belong to the pick one niche school of thought.
