Hi Shelly. This line in your excellent post: Eventually the worst of it subsided once I reached 30.

At corporations ( in one particular industry) where I do consulting contracts, I watch them hire women below age 30. Yet the chatter among the predominately male current managers and employees is never about these new women hire’s skills, intelligence and drive. Its about asses and boobs. And lots of innuendo about what these guys would like to do to the bodies of these women.

Then as these women pass the 30th birthday mark its a gradual but steady downward spiral of being ignored by these same guys( BTW most of the guys themselves aged over 60!) The view seems to be: those “broads” are too old for me to play with once they hit 30 so given that they provide no other value to our business, how do we pretend they are not here/or best case:get rid of them.

Unless of course these over 30 years of age women employees are willing to become servants and door mats to these guys.

My words are not harsh. Just true based on what I have seen and still see.

Take away? We don’t give up, we support one another and drive on to rid the workplaces of this kind of treatment toward women. Women above and below age 30.
