Hi Roz. This is an excellent idea and post. You probably already saw my @ to you in a comment to the wonderful writer Mary Holden

I will also answer your question again. At my current rate of Medium payout, I can pretty much bank on taking my honey on a monthly breakfast date. As long as it is at Mickey-Dees for egg-a-muffin and coffee. Some months I might also pony up for one turnover OR one hash brown tator patty…to share.🤪

My frequency of monthly posting on Medium is dismal though. I am hoping if I can greatly increase the amount(and quality) I write, something better will happen. This is on me, I believe.

Still, I also believe my revenue from writing ultimately needs to come from a well crafted business plan for myself ( that plan made by me). A plan that involves Medium( I love it here) but also involves other sources of writing revenue. Stay tuned, I guess!

Roz. I cannot agree more that we should be transparent about our writing earnings. On Medium, yes. Elsewhere too. It helps manage stress and expectations. Yet it can also help us focus on solutions. Practical ones.

In that light, a question for you if it is ok, about the part I excerpted above. On average (after sometime) each post of yours generating $15.00. When you did the average did you include or exclude your > than $1000 one post earner? If you included it in your averaging math, your average per post without it is of course, lower.

If you already excluded it, $15.00 per is nothing to sniff at, not at all. But…you my friend are an experienced, published, excellent, proficient and prolific writer, so in my books $15.00 per piece doesn’t come close to compensating you. Just sayin’ 🙄😊⭐️
