Hey Terry.

Just saw your Bessie Smith story on Vocal. Loved it and did the ❤️

I am just getting started on Vocal. Any pointers? Will be most appreciated.

I do like the whole challenge thing and both my submissions there now were in response to 2 of them. I agree, while winning would be awesome, it is still a great experience to participate.

I find it tough to see how, in general, one gets attention on Vocal. There is no way to engage and when one does receive a ❤️, there is no way to see who sent it.

I understand that one can see the person’s name with a tip. But is a lot of tipping going on? And does a tip from one writer equal a tip back? A yes to this latter question seems counter productive?

So is it really all about only when someone accidentally finds you and reads your work? If yes, how do you find that is working for you? This seems so random to me and iffy, relying on luck to be found.

Of course, good writing is essential. Still, there are so many posts, so many writers. If someone accidentally comes across your work, do they really seek you out on Vocal to read more? And a bunch of ❤️ doesn’t give you specifics.

I found you there by searching your name. But I had to try several times before the search worked.

Thanks Terry. I am excited about Vocal but feeling a tad lost… maybe my understandings above are incorrect or incomplete?
