The most important thing first: I am a HUGE fan of Medium and its community. I have been here since 2019, first as only a reader. By 2020 I was writing as well.

Top of my wish list: Compensation. Given the amount of time many writers devote to their craft, I wish Medium would find a way to provide compensation matching that effort. For most, the current system can work out to 5 cents an hour, or less.

Perhaps it is as simple as offering a number of choices? Allow writers to opt in as desired. Yes, the affiliate membership program is one. I keep thinking that could be one on a list of thirty alternatives.

I know the Medium challenges last fall were not the most popular. However, I do believe they could be redesigned with the goal to significantly improve the ones currently offered by Vocal Media.

Certainly Vocal gets complaints, yet their contests still remain extremely popular. Imagine if Medium made Vocal's model better.

Thanks for asking for input, Tony. If ever you consider forming Medium member advisory boards , I would love to be considered as a candidate. For one thing, my work experience qualifies me.
