Dearest FSUC
As we explained, you are about to be treated to many friend perspectives in this comment section. Yes, from the Lemonesses: Paroma, Amy and Me. But also from our perceptive and talented readers.
That is the beauty of pals. Whether real-time or online, we all have lived many ups, downs and around the bend. That collective experience of being in this world gets tapped whenever friends sit around and share. The dealio is this: we each pick one (just one) topic and share thoughts and questions with you.
I want to talk about stuff. I refer to designer purses, killer Italian stilettos, Rodeo Drive boutique purchases, European kitchens, German cars, endless high-end exotic vacas. My list is extensive, but you get my drift. I see that you crave and collect all items in these veins.
I am assuming the money paying for the assorted luxuries is earned rather than inherited? I think your letter would have mentioned an inheritance as a reason for hubby Sam not to work so hard? Let’s assume I am correct.
You have all these things. An assembled possession-entourage, envied by many. You are surrounded by quality, excess and beauty each time you turn around. Yet, you are not happy. Miserable, you say. Is it possible money can’t buy you love? Love and happiness?
I am not confident your husband can work the pace set out for him and still be available to you and your girls. Your past and the current rate of consumption and accumulation are playing havoc with your well-being.
I am sorry to point this out because, Hey, we all want the whole nine yards. The ol’ have your cake and eat it too. The thing is, you guys seem to have only the cake part. Yummy, fluffy, moist cake. But cake, period. You cannot eat any of it.
Maybe you and Sam and your daughters need a heart-to-heart about a compromise? Perhaps you want to decide how vital the accoutrements of your life are to your future. Maybe you all want to figure out how to slow down, appreciate what you were able to do, and still do and make a new plan for the coming years. Decide on your top ten things and experiences that make your hearts go BOOM. Then what can you do without, and where are you headed from here?
There is no telling what the next ten years will reveal. Happiness would be good.
Big hugs and wishes for beauty days,
Suze
