Darcy. Darcy. Darcy. Hello and Good Morning.
I found your article this morning and I could not stop reading. You write wonderfully. The topic is too familiar sounding and so heart breaking.
I applaud Hollywood for being the place to finally garner the attention we need re harassment of women( sexual harassment yes, but harassment in general too and the visible and invisible misogyny)
Yet, we know that the reality of these offences against 51% of the human population also dwell in your story and that of your neighbour, your classmate, the woman next to you in boot camp or sitting next to you on a bench waiting for the bus or…or…any woman. Just about all of us have an “ experience” . This is not O.K.
It is neither a badge of honour ( omg NO) nor is it something society in general wishes to be the case: be so embarrassed by it that you shut up about it. Ahhh the way people try and silence women, huh.
Or the other tired tactic: try and make the woman think she was to blame.
I am so motivated by an article posted yesterday in the NY Times by one of my top heros; Roxane Gay. Here is the link:
Join me, will you, in Step 1 of a process we each can create and execute: share this link with everyone!!
Have a stellar weekend, Darcy
P.S. By finding you I also lucked out and found your list of Medium articles. Um…yeah. I will be reading lots of you. That’s for sure
