Another of your excellent pieces, Denise. A friend of mine was offered a customer experience job in tech. They raved about her 4 languages fluency, her references, her master's degree, etc. They offered her(her...) a salary below the going rate(she was a great researcher). She told them about her research and asked for 3K more per year(still below the norm). They told her that they were appalled at her request, that she would be a bad influence and rotten apple at the company and they rescinded her offer!
